Lumogram
Design Collections
With the launch of the V2 hexagonal form factor, the Lumogram project will also be documenting the ongoing series of cutout designs created by our Design interns and guest designers/artists over time. This page will celebrate these contributions to the project.
Join our Pilot Program!
As a pilot test, we are opening the Lumogram workshop to high schools and communities wanting to work with the Lumogram’s technology and its supporting education materials – such as these design collections. We are currently in the process of finalising the materials, and working out the best distribution model to do this. Please get in touch with me to find out more!
COLLECTION.01 – Winter 2024
By Manaporn “Pam” Tanwimonrat
Kicking off these cutout designs is an electic collection; a ‘starter pack’ design produced by MADA Design intern Manaporn “Pam” Tanwimonrat
This collection provides a great sense of the possibilities in laser cutting fidelity, and was designed to evaluate the level of detail needed to work with the rim-based V2 lighting. The selection consists of geometric patterns, flora, fauna, a set of oceanic frames, and a fun interstellar space set that works particuarly well in the dark.
COLLECTION.00 – 2023
By Chuan Khoo
These cutout designs were created in 2023 as part of an initial feasibility test, and based on the V1 circular bezel design. Consequently, the boundaries of these designs retain the circular frame, which still presents a pleasing composition against the hexagonal frame of V2. It also includes a generic ‘holder’ that allows a participant to stick a photo onto a layer, allowing further creative explorations around printed graphics.
Produced as a ‘starter pack’ for V1, it was meant to explore the layering effects and varying line weights that will set up some useful guidelines for the template document.
FAQs
Are these available for download?
I am still working out the details for distribution. The designs will eventually be made available.
Can I get just the templates so I can create my own designs?
I am planning to release these cutout templates as SVG files, and as part of a wider education/design kit. Please stay tuned!
